A new look for 2012

01 Jan 2012

Keen-eyed readers may have noticed a brighter appearance to The Motorship, which we hope will reflect the small changes we have made across the board in our goal to continue improving the brand.

Because of the success of our online offering at www.motorship.com we are using the website as our primary news medium. After all, it is updated every working day. We are concentrating on features coverage in the printed magazine, and have been gathering some new, authoritative contributors who will bring more opinion, more originality and more topicality to our pages. We say what we think, and are not afraid to air controversial views from the industry.

We know very well that there are many magazines fighting for the same readership, but we believe that The Motorship is the title that people actually choose to read when it arrives on their desks, and to pass on to their colleagues. As the vast majority of the copies we send out are either directly requested or paid for, we are confident that we have a sizeable, high quality readership. We want to keep it that way.

We know too that The Motorship is often kept as a reference source, and in order to give a complete view we are including, in print, short review sections of the important online news and product stories from the previous month.

The third string to our bow is events. We would be the first to agree that there are too many conferences and exhibitions in our industry, but we know that we have probably the longest established conference, and we aim to keep it as the best. With that in mind the 2012 Propulsion & Emissions conference will also take a slightly different stance, guided not only by feedback from delegates but by a new steering committee appointed from the ranks of shipowners, industry, classification and finance.
