Korean built boxships to get MacGregor hatch covers and lashing gear
Cargotec has confirmed new orders worth around $35 million to deliver MacGregor hatch covers, lashing bridges and fixed lashing gear for eleven 8,800TEU container ships being built by Sungdong Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in South Korea.
The equipment will be delivered between mid-2012 and the end of 2013. The orders include an option for the delivery of equipment for a further 10 ships.
“Hatch covers and lashing systems are an integral part of a container vessel’s cargo-handling ability,” says, Tommi Keskilohko, sales manager for container ships. “Cargotec’s early involvement in the project enabled it to design the most efficient and safe cargo handling solution possible. Also, as a result of our cargo system design expertise, we can maximise the ship’s overall efficiency and profitability. Furthermore, Cargotec is the only company who can deliver the whole cargo equipment package.”
