ACR Electronics has launched a new personal locator beacon that it says adds a new level of assurance and instant information thanks to a breakthrough in digital display.

The display on the AquaLink View, launched at the recent SMM exhibition, allows the user to see all of the beacon’s operational activities, providing indication of GPS LAT/LON, transmission bursts and battery power. It additionally shows operating instructions, usage tips, and a step by step self-test procedure. GPS functionality can be tested up to 60 times over the life of the battery.

The LED display is housed inside the unit to prevent damage and ensure visibility in low temperatures and direct sunlight.

The AquaLink View provides GPS positioning, 406 MHz satellite detectable signal and 121.5 MHz homing capability. The registered distress signal includes location, to within 100m, and identity. Rescue authorities can be guided to the exact location by a separate homing signal and integrated LED strobe light.

ACR, a Cobham Life Support company, says the unit is currently approved for sale in Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the UK.
