Are you passionate about boats and have a good working knowledge of a variety of vessels? We have an exciting new opportunity at Marine Mobile Services for a Mobile Marine Engineer to join our London-based team.

About the Role

Working as part of our skilled marine engineering team, you will be dealing directly with clients in the field to fault-find, repair and maintain a range of different vessels from small craft to luxury yachts. The workload is varied, with no two days ever the same. Career development opportunities are excellent, and training will be provided where required.

The successful candidate will join us on a permanent, full-time basis and we offer a competitive salary based on experience and skills. This is a mobile role requiring travel within the London and Greater London area.

Main Duties

  • Fault-finding and repair of electronic, hydraulic and mechanical equipment
  • Engine removal and re-fitting, checks and maintenance
  • Inboard and outboard engine servicing
  • Maintenance of electronic equipment, including batteries
  • New electrical installations and rewiring and maintenance of existing installations
  • Electrical and mechanical fitting and maintenance
  • Making sure boat instruments and systems work safely
  • Boat moving and logistics
  • Accurately record repairs and maintenance
  • Ensure correct site procedures and health and safety standards are maintained
  • Maintain excellent client relationships and make good commercial decisions to drive new business

Key Skills and Requirements

  • Broad technical knowledge and experience in boat fault-finding, maintenance and repair
  • The ability to follow technical manuals and engineering diagrams
  • Excellent time-management, planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to work flexibly, adapt and problem solve
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
  • Able to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Good work ethic and willingness to work hard
  • An understanding of health and safety standards and requirements
  • Full, clean driving licence and own vehicle
  • Able to travel within the London and Greater London area

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Advanced knowledge and experience in electrical, mechanical installations and inboard and outboard repairs and maintenance
  • Relevant technical qualification, such as an advanced apprenticeship or HNC/HND in an engineering subject. However, we also consider equivalent work or life experience in lieu of technical qualifications
