Operations Manager x 2 (Sub-Contract)
We currently have a vacancy for an Operations Manager (Sub-Contract) at our site in Barrow in Furness. As an Operations Manager (Sub-Contract), you will be looking after a multi-disciplined team of between 4-8 people to assist in overseeing of the site progress / build. This role will provide you with the variety of work challenges as well as liaising with different people and travel.
Your main responsibilities as an Operations Manager (Sub-Contract) will involve:
Ensuring safe and timely delivery of structures, to specification at minimum cost
Ensuring the Health & Safety of all personnel on the project and that your area operates in accordance with company Health and Safety policies and procedures
Receiving and reviewing change and variation requests with a view to identifying cost and programme impacts
Negotiating and agreeing with sub-contract management
Resolving of technical, material and scope queries in line with company timescales
Ensuring adherence of acceptance process in order that all structures are within scope and meet specified criteria
Mentoring and coaching of team members
Travel to other sites including Liverpool and Newcastle
Your skills and qualifications as an Operations Manager (Sub-Contract):
Negotiation skills - ability to reach a win-win position
Sound understanding of steel fabrication procedures
Management of small teams is essential
Contract management experience is essential
Understanding of submarines build strategy would be an advantage
Engineer/ naval architecture (related to shipbuilding) Degree, HNC or similar work history experience
The ability to travel is essential
