GEA has launched new efficiency improving products including a chemical-free ballast water management system, a marine separator and a unit for cleaning the disc stack of mineral oil separators.

Designed for a throughout of 150 – 1500 m3/h, the BallastMaster marine is a two-stage system which combines mechanical pre-filtration with subsequent disinfection of the ballast water by UV-C light from TrojanUV Solo Lamps.

It “combines effective 32-um filtration with subsequent UV irradiation for disinfection in one housing” and “effectively disinfects organisms with a UV transmission value (UVT) of 44%,” said GEA, which launched its new products at SMM.

The differential pressure-controlled filter backwash and the integrated, automatic cleaning of the quartz tubes enable stable disinfection and the achievement of the IMO-D2 limits.

New separator

GEA’s marine separator with integrated direct drive is designed for maximum energy efficiency and has a savings potential of up to 30,000kWh per year. The direct drive with its synchronous motor requires no belt and no coupling. Plus, for the first time, the spindle and motor are available as ‘modular exchange drive units’.

Maintenance effort is minimal as the separator has a maintenance interval of 16,000 hour, after which time the modular exchange drive unit is replaced.

Disc stack cleaning

Mobile unit Efficlean for disc stack cleaning has an integrated 70 I tank ready for use with all GEA mineral oil centrifuges and automatic dosing and mixing directly from the container of EffiClean 1090 environmentally friendly cleaning agent.

GEA also showcased its LT series of screw compressors; a new CO2 cooling solution comprising modular plants which operate with several GEA Bock compressors, which has been installed on P&O Cruises’ Arcadia ship; and new MTP (Module Type Package) with smart connectivity for simplified project planning, simulation during test runs, fast integration into the control system and smooth commissioning.
