Daewoo to build FPSO for Total
Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering recently signed a $1.8 billion deal to build a floating oil production and storage platform (FPSO) for French energy giant Total for delivery in May 2013.
The 110,000 dwt FPSO is designed to receive, process and store oil or natural gas and can be manoeuvred to different locations. It will be able to process 160,000 barrels of oil or 6.5 million m3 of gas a day and store up to 1.8 million barrels of crude oil.
The vessel, measuring 305m in length and 61m in width, will be deployed for the Clov project in Angola in 2014. This calls for the development of a four-field cluster in the northwest sector of the country’s offshore block 17.
