Daihatsu launches DC-32

20 Jul 2004
Daihatsu has launched the DC-32, a new medium speed engine, with a strong environmental bias based on improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions levels.

The new engine was developed around the same design concept as its smaller predecessor, the DC-17 engine, which was introduced in October 2001, and distinguished by having one of the smallest output ranges of any marine engine to run on heavy fuel oil.
Not only does the DC-32 boast a compression ratio that is the highest of any engine in its class but, by optimising the design of the piston combustion chamber and using a highly efficient turbocharger, the development team at Daihatsu claims stable combustion even when operating at low loads on heavy fuel.
