The 120m long Havyard 858 DSV ‘Acergy Havila’ is claimed to be the most advanced diving support vessel (DSV) ever built and is now performing the final sea trials of the ship systems.

The Turkish built hull is being outfitted at Havyard Group’s shipyard Havyard Leirvik in Sogn in Norway and will be delivered to the owner, which is a joint venture between Acergy and Havila Shipping, in the middle of this month. After delivery the owner will perform extensive final testing of the advanced diving systems before the vessel is put into operation.

The 7,250 dwt Acergy Havila is the largest vessel built by Havyard Leirvikso far and is a purpose-built vessel for saturated diving operations. During the design and construction process there has been close cooperation between ship designer, shipyard, diving system supplier, ship owner and operator.

Power generated by a diesel electric power plant comprising eight 2,100kW Caterpillar generator sets drives two 3,500 kW Azipull propulsors, two 1,500 kW bow thrusters, two 1,500 kW retractable azimuth thrusters and one 1,500 kW stern retractable azimuth thruster. The vessel has a transit speed of 17 knots and a DP3 capability.

In addition to Havyard Leirvik building the vessel, several other companies within the Havyard Group have delivered products and services to the vessel. Havyard Design has delivered basic design and calculations, Havyard Steelcad delivered detail engineering and workshop drawings, Havyard Elektro delivered electrical installations and electric systems, Havyard Powertec delivered electrical engineering and Havyard IAS integrated automation system.

Havyard Ship Services has followed up building of the steel hull at the Turkish shipyard of Cemre and will service the vessel in the warranty period using Havyard Life Cycle Portal.
