ClassNK releases amendments to Class Rules

27 Feb 2014

Tokyo-based classification society, ClassNK, has released an updated edition of its 'Rules and Guidance for the Survey and Construction of Steel Ships'.

ClassNK continuously reviews, updates, and amends its technical rules and guidance as part of its ongoing efforts to improve the safety of life and property at sea and to protect the marine environment.

Amendments this time include requirements related to the scope of the application of fire-resistant cables and a full review of the requirements for ore carriers.

Other key amendments relate to the code on noise levels on board ships and approval procedures of corrosion resistant steel used for cargo oil tanks.

Both printed and CD-ROM versions of the rules and guidance are available to purchase online and the PDF version of the rules and guidance are available free of charge from ClassNK’s website.
