ClassNK updates onboard maintenance checklists

14 Jan 2015

ClassNK has released the latest version of its Good Maintenance Onboard Ships checklists to ensure vessels are safe, well-maintained and compliant with regulations.

The publication incorporates ClassNK’s experience from surveys and audits, feedback from Port State Control (PSC) inspections and comments from ship owners and mariners.

Checklist topics include routine maintenance, PSC inspections, safety management systems and ship security management systems as well as a newly added checklist covering the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) 2006. Photos of the most common deficiencies are also included.

Tetsuya Hayashi, operating officer and director of survey operations headquarters, ClassNK said: “Our mission to ensure the safety of life and property at sea. We hope that crews will utilise this to help create a safer work environment, decrease the number of PSC detained ships and prevent maintenance-related problems.”

The Good Maintenance Onboard Ships checklist is available for download on the ClassNK website.
