The conference will look at the benefits of LNG as a maritime fuel

The final programme for this year’s Gasfuelled Ships (GFS) Conference, which takes places onboard the Viking Line’s ‘Viking Grace’, has been released.

Organised by Mercator Media and held in association with The Motorship, the fourth conference, entitled The Prospects for LNG as a Maritime Fuel for the Future, will look at the benefits of using LNG as a maritime fuel and explore solutions to its limitations.

Delegates, which include ship owners, policy makers, engine manufacturers, LNG carriers, LNG suppliers and classification societies, will sail from Stockholm to Turku from 11 to 12 September 2013, on Viking Grace, the world’s largest passenger cruise ferry fuelled by LNG.

The final programme incorporates technical sessions on regulation, economics and developments in ports and harbours. It includes operator’s case studies from Kari Granberg, project manager of Viking Grace, Oscar Bergheim, head of LNG fuellsed ferries, Fjord1 and Ed De Jong, business development, Deen Shipping.

Other studies include LNG vessel design and supply and demand studies by Sund Energy and Ocean Shipping Partners/Royal Haskoning.  

The conference will also feature technical and regulatory presentations by Wärtsilä, Rolls-Royce, Germanischer Lloyd, Lloyds Register and ABS, among others.
