GNMTC and STX France sign cruiseship contract

01 Jul 2010

GNMTC and STX France have confirmed the signature of a contract for the construction of a new cruise ship. This signature follows the letter of intent signed on 4 June, 2010.

The 139,400gt vessel will be 333m long by 38m wide, will have 1,739 passenger cabins giving a total passenger capacity of about 4,000. Delivery is scheduled for December 2012 and this order is particularly welcome news for STX France where activity at its Saint-Nazaire shipyard has run down drastically since delivery of NCL’s Norwegian Epic last month.

Founded in 1975, GNMTC is a Libyan State owned company which operates a fleet of 24 vessels specialized in the global transportation of crude oil, oil products and LPG, and, in order to expand its activity, GNMTC has decided to enter the cruise industry.
