Simple but effective bilge treatment system launched.

17 Apr 2009

Swedish company Alfa Laval has today announced the introduction of a new bilge water treatment system, known as PureBilge. The system is claimed to exceed IMO requirements using only a single centrifugal separator, with no additional filters, settling beds or chemical dosing.

Alfa Laval says that the system will work reliably and consistently at sea, with residual oils, particle matter, etc. unlike many 'approved' static systems which are only tested ashore, over short periods.

The key is a spring-like 'accelerator' at the separator inlet, which improves the systems effectiveness. A technical description will appear in the May 2009 edition of The Motorship, and PureBilge will be formally launched at the forthcoming Nor-Shipping show.
