Wabtec acquires Turbonetics

06 Aug 2013

US based Wabtec Corporation has acquired turbocharger manufacturer, Turbonetics Inc., which it says will “benefit both companies”.

Wabtec, part of Napier Turbochargers, says the acquisition will enhance its product offering, enabling both companies to expand into new and existing markets such as the high speed engine market.

In addition, the engineering and technical capabilities of both companies will facilitate the joint development of larger radial products.

Also based in the US, Turbonetics designs and manufactures radial turbochargers, heat exchangers and pressure control products for engines used in various markets.

The company, which employs around 40 people and has annual sales of about US$15m, will form part of the Napier organisation.

The Turbonetics business will retain its name.
