The 'World Emerald' is the fourth in a series of six PSVs being delivered

Damen Shipyards Group has delivered the fourth platform supply vessel (PSV) in a series of six to Norway’s World Wide Supply.

World Emerald is a PSV 3300 CD – part of an entire new range of Damen PSVs. With a length of 80.1m and a deck load of 1,500 tonnes, the new vessel type can be used to transport crew and equipment to and from offshore platforms.

It also offers fire-fighting and oil pollution recovery capability and is equipped with azimuth thrusters and dynamic positioning (DP2).

Damen says the new design is distinguished by slender hull lines to meet challenging conditions, minimise fuel consumption and to enhance crew comfort.

In order to design the new vessel, Damen Shipyards Gorinchem carried out extensive CAD/CAM modelling, while model testing was carried out by Maritime Research Institute Netherlands (MARIN).

Four of the six World Wide Supply PSV 3300s have secured long term contracts supporting Petrobras offshore Brazil. The remaining two are expected to be offered to the North Sea spot charter market.

The first ship, World Diamond, was delivered in July. The fifth PSV, World Opel, will be handed over in the new few weeks and the last in the series, World Sapphire, is due to be delivered in mid-December.
