Jo Tankers orders tanker pair

China’s New Times Shipbuilding has signed a contract to build a pair of 74,500 dwt long-range 1 (LR1) IMOIII notation product tankers for Norwegian owner Jo Tanker.
Scheduled for delivery in early 2013, the newbuildings represent a further expansion of the Jo Tankers fleet as well a strategic move to include larger product tankers in the fleet portfolio.
The company had earlier this year ordered a similar pair of ships from the South Korean shipbuilder STX Offshore and Shipbuilding for delivery late 2012 and early 2013.
