GTT nets LNG carrier order

GTT is to supply its Mark III Flex technology for an LNG carrier (LNGC) being built by Japan’s Imabari Shipbuilding Co Ltd.

The LNGC, for Mitsui & Co., will be built with the Mark III Flex technology, a cryogenic liner directly supported by the ship’s inner hull. The liner is composed of a primary metallic membrane positioned on top of a prefabricated insulation panel including a complete secondary membrane.

"We are very pleased that Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. has decided to renew its trust in our technologies. This new order also confirms the importance of our innovation policy,” said Philippe Berterottière, chairman and CEO, GTT.

“Out of 31 orders recorded over the last six months, 30 use technologies which were launched over the last three years,” he added.

The vessel is expected to be delivered in 2020.
