New Canadian marine electronics distribution deal

04 Aug 2011

Ocean Signal has appointed CMC Electronics as exclusive Canadian distributor for all marine markets. CMC Electronics is said to be Canada’s largest distributor of marine electronics, handling many major manufacturers.

Ocean Signal was launched into North America earlier this year after its European debut in 2010 and claims to have already made an impact in the communications and safety at sea market. Ocean Signal’s range is centred on a series of GMDSS products for which innovative benefits are claimed.

The products include the SafeSea E100/E100G series of EPIRBs, the SafeSea S100 SART and the SafeSea V100 survival craft hand portable VHF. The EPRIBs are said to have the longest quoted operational battery lives in the industry, allowing continuous operation for up to four days, even with GPS fix. The batteries can be replaced by users, eliminating the need to return the unit when batteries need changing.

Talbot Pratt of Ocean Signal America commented, “We are proud to have CMC Electronics represent us in Canada which we have identified as a highly important market for our products. Our designers and engineers have excelled in producing a world leading range of safety and communication products, we are now looking forward to working with Canada’s top distributor to assist in our continued success.”

Anthony Johnstone of CMC Electronics commented, “Ocean Signal has impressed us with a great product range and an enthusiastic service which we are confident will attract the Canadian maritime market. They have gone to great lengths to set themselves apart from other manufacturers of EPIRBs by thinking about the user, the tough environment that will be experienced when the products are deployed and the confidence needed in safety electronics when the going gets tough. Ocean Signal provides that reliability so we look forward to a long and successful relationship in Canada.”
