New Singapore manager for ship supplier

Wrist Ship Supply has appointed a key account manager dedicated to its Asian customers.

Shilpa Jayant Varade, who has 10 years’ experience in the Indian and Singapore marine and offshore shipping markets, will be based in Wrist Ship Supply’s Singapore office and will be responsible for building relationships with Asian shipping companies and generating awareness of Wrist’s market leading offering for the procurement of ship supplies and associated logistics services. The company says that the appointment is in line with its intention to build market share in Asia.

The Asia-Pacific market continues to enjoy growth from an influx of shipping firms basing operations in the region, and Wrist Ship Supply intends to capitalise on the increasing demand for its ship supply services and develop greater market share. This continues Wrist’s expansion strategy, which has included six acquisitions since 2009 in Europe, America and Canada. Wrist Ship Supply most recently acquired Strachans, a UK independent food distributor to the offshore industry.

Søren Jørgensen, Vice President, Global Sales, Wrist Ship Supply, said:

“The growing demand from our customers in Asia and the upswing in Asian shipping clearly demonstrates the opportunity for Wrist Ship Supply to grow market share. To do this we need to ensure that we have an established presence to develop relationships with decision makers locally. Outsourcing procurement is becoming increasingly popular as a new way of working for the shipping industry and we are committed to delivering procurement strategies that increase efficiencies and maximise profitability, allowing ship owners to focus on their core business.”
