Zamakona wins Danish order
Ulstein SX123 design
Danish shipping company ESVAGT has ordered a standby / rescue vessel of the Ulstein X-Bow SX123 design. The vessel is a part of emergency preparedness in the Goliat field for operator Eni and will enter directly into a ten-year contract.
The newbuilding will be constructed at the shipyard Astilleros Zamakona SA in Bilbao, Spain. “This contract with ESVAGT is very good news. A customer comes back and orders a design that they have great faith in, and the vessel goes right into a ten-year contract with the oil company ENI after completion,” says managing director Tore Ulstein of Ulstein Design & Solutions.
The vessel will be in readiness for the production unit in the Goliat field off the coast of Finnmark, Norway. The emergency response vessel, which has a diesel electric propulsion system, is one of the most modern on the Norwegian continental shelf. The design is optimized for cold weather and harsh weather conditions and the vessel is equipped with the latest oil spill readiness equipment.
The ship differs particularly from other standby vessels because it can accommodate daughter crafts / rescue boats directly on board through a special stern arrangement, even under difficult weather conditions, with waves of up to ten metres. The ship will be able to take on board 370 accident victims and will be able to operate as tow and salvage vessels. The 80m long and 17m wide newbuilding will be capable of attaining speeds over 16 knots in calm weather, and has accommodation for a crew of 40.
The contract includes a large package of design, engineering and equipment delivered from the Ulstein Group.Images for this article - click to enlarge
