In session 7 of the 2026 Propulsion and Future Fuels conference, which takes place in Hamburg from 8-10 December, speakers will explore the use of methanol in practice, from ship to shore. <\/p>\n
One of the speakers joining the session will be Kristian Mogensen, technical adviser at Everllence. Kristian is based in Copenhagen and has over ten years of experience in marine propulsion systems and the global shipping industry. <\/p>\n
He joined Everllence in 2015 and, since then, has been actively involved in advancing technical standards and optimizing the operational performance of low-speed two-stroke engines. In his current role, Kristian bridges engineering and commercial disciplines, supporting customers and sales teams across international markets. His expertise spans engine operation, tribology, and alternative fuel applications, enabling him to deliver technically robust and future-oriented solutions. <\/p>\n
Everllence, previously MAN Energy Solutions, has recently announced the world\u2019s first conversion of an Everllence B&W S90 two-stroke engine to dual-fuel methanol running following the successful sea-trials of COSCO SHIPPING LINES\u2019 20,000+ TEU container vessel, \u2018COSCO SHIPPING LIBRA\u2019. The vessel\u2019s 11S90ME-C engine was retrofitted to an 11S90ME-LGIM (-Liquid Gas Injection Methanol) unit. <\/p>\n
Looking beyond the COSCO SHIPPING LIBRA retrofit that proves the viability of methanol as a marine fuel, Everllence believes that the potential for further large-bore retrofits is substantial with over 300 vessels worldwide currently equipped with S90-class engines and therefore potential candidates for similar retrofits. <\/p>\n
