The installation of the latest equipment means that fuel consumption and emissions will be significantly reduced in all operating modes whilst increased security is achieved in terms of spinning reserve, response time as well as enhanced redundancy.<\/p>\n<p>Tom Karlsen, technical manager at Simon M\u00f8kster Shipping, said that the project went well. \u201cA good start-up process, clarification meetings along the way, and a comprehensive test program before the installation meant that the vessel\u2019s operational pattern was minimally affected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Vard Electro was responsible for the entire project, which includes engineering, steel prefabrication, installation, integration, testing and commissioning. Planning and installation was done in close cooperation with Simon M\u00f8kster Shipping and off-hire days were avoided. The vessel will be awarded class notation \u2018Battery Power\u2019 by DNV GL.<\/p>\n<p>Roger Sandnes, sales manager at Vard Electro added, \u201cThe system enables the ship to use excess energy in all operating conditions, as well as simplifying the use of shore power.
