With a splash-proof, flame-retardant plastic housing, skid runners and strain-relieved connectors it is designed for rough use in hostile environments. The case protects the unit against getting caught, stuck or jammed while being used, and features a recessed control panel for safety and protection. The unit weighs less than 10kg for portability, and with interconnecting hosepacks up to 70m in length for gas-cooled welding systems, it can be used over a wide radius of action.

The VR 5000 Case is designed to be used with a 5kg wirespool of 200mm diameter; after the spool is changed, the wire is automatically advanced, and a four-roller drive ensures constant wire travel during welding. Fronius offers the feeder unit in configurations for water or gas-cooled welding, and a synergic version that lets welders refer to integrated welding information about material characteristics.

An optional gas-flow regulator allows users to set and control the flow of shielding-gas from the feeder unit, while the VR 5000 Case can be ordered with an electrode socket at the rear, for rod-electrode welding.

Fronius has launched a portable VR 5000 compact briefcase-format wirefeeder designed for use when welding in dirty, damp and salty environments, such as shipyards.

[11
["post-3555","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-vessels-shipyards
["GET
https://www.motorship.com/propulsion-and-future-fuels-conference/wp-json/wp/v2/posts/3555/revisions/3557
