{"id":532,"date":"2020-07-13T11:53:00","date_gmt":"2020-07-13T10:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mercator.nfdtesting.uk\/propulsion-and-future-fuels-conference\/2020\/07\/13\/third-all-electric-catamaran-for-the-fjords\/"},"modified":"2026-08-26T21:51:28","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T20:51:28","slug":"third-all-electric-catamaran-for-the-fjords","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.motorship.com\/propulsion-and-future-fuels-conference\/news\/vessels-shipyards\/third-all-electric-catamaran-for-the-fjords\/","title":{"rendered":"Third all-electric catamaran for The Fjords"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <em>Legacy of The Fjords<\/em> which will join sister ships, <em>Vision of The Fjords<\/em> and <em>Future of The Fjords<\/em> which was named Ship of the Year at SMM exhibition in Hamburg in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>According to John Vonli, managing director, The Fjords, the delivery of the Legacy of The Fjords marks an important milestone for the company. \u201cOur mission has been to share the fjord experience with as many people as possible while reducing our impact on a fragile eco-system,\u201d he said. \u201cWith three ships powered by clean electricity now in operation, we can welcome up to 1,200 visitors at a time to enjoy a unique experience without compromising the environment. It is a proud day for us and our progressive owners, Fjord1 and Fl\u00e5m.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With a Servogear Ecoflow propulsion system, the vessel has capacity for up to 400 passengers and space for three dedicated conference zones, each equipped with projectors, screens and audio systems.<\/p>\n<p>The NOK 130 million vessel is propelled by two 450kW electric motors, enabling cruising speeds of 16 knots. Together with Br\u00f8drene Aa, the company developed a unique charging station called the Power Dock, a 40m long, 5m wide floating glass-fibre charging station in Gudvangen.
