{"id":878,"date":"2021-07-28T13:13:00","date_gmt":"2021-07-28T12:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mercator.nfdtesting.uk\/propulsion-and-future-fuels-conference\/2021\/07\/28\/stena-line-increases-baltic-sea-services\/"},"modified":"2026-08-26T21:54:50","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T20:54:50","slug":"stena-line-increases-baltic-sea-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.motorship.com\/propulsion-and-future-fuels-conference\/news\/vessels-shipyards\/stena-line-increases-baltic-sea-services\/","title":{"rendered":"Stena Line increases Baltic Sea services"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first of the two, <em>Stena Scandica<\/em>, arrived in Nyn\u00e4shamn&nbsp;yesterday having completed&nbsp;its overnight maiden voyage from Ventspils.&nbsp;It is joined by the <em>Stena Baltica<\/em> replacing the <em>Stena Livia<\/em> and <em>Stena Flavia<\/em>, which will then be redeployed on the Liep\u0101ja \u2013 Travem\u00fcnde route.<\/p>\n<p>Stena has been carrying passengers and freight in the Baltic Sea region for almost ten years, and aims to double the number of passengers in the next three years. \u201cWe have more than doubled our operations from one vessel and ten departures per week in 2012 up to two vessels and 24 departures per week for passengers and freight in 2021,\u201d said Johan Edelman, trade director Baltic Sea North.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are now strengthening our position and customer offer further with two new modern and bigger vessels that will add extra 30 per cent freight capacity and provide an attractive onboard experience on both our routes to and from Latvia during 2021,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The 222m <em>Stena Scandica<\/em> has a capacity of 200 cabins, 970 passengers and 2,875 freight lane metres, plus an extra car deck, an increase of 70% more cabins and 30% more freight capacity over the existing vessels.
