MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has secured an order for a 150 tonne active heave compensated (AHC) subsea crane from French offshore oil and gas marine services specialist, Bourbon.

This latest contract builds on a contract that was secured at the end of 2007 for ten similar cranes.

Frode Grøvan, sales and marketing director, MacGregor Advanced Load Handling, said: “Ongoing experience of MacGregor’s offshore cranes and Bourbon shared return on experience on previous order to MacGregor has played a significant role in Bourbon ordering another 150 tonne active heave compensated subsea MacGregor crane.”

The crane, which is due to be delivered in August 2014, is for Bourbon’s Evolution 800 multi purpose support vessel currently under construction at Zhejiang Shipyard in China.

Designed to meet the new development challenges of offshore oil and gas operations and operate safely at a depth of 3,000m, the Bourbon Evolution 800 series vessels offer an array of services

Bourbon says the crane, which was also used for nine of the same vessels as a result of the previous order, fits in with its latest strategy to standardise its fleet.
