Next generation of icebreakers for Baltic Sea
The Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency (FTIA) and the Swedish Maritime Administration (Sjöfartsverket) have signed a cooperation agreement for the design of the next generation of icebreakers. The agreement aims to carry out design work for three Swedish and two Finnish icebreakers, to replace the 1970s vintage Atle/Urho class of vessels, which are approaching the end of their operational lifespan.
