AiP granted for China’s first ammonia-powered Newcastlemax

Lloyd’s Register (LR) has awarded Approval in Principle (AiP) to Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company (DSIC), the largest shipbuilding company in China, for the first Chinese Newcastlemax bulk carrier concept to be powered by ammonia.

The AiP is the first to be awarded for an NH3-fuelled Chinese Newcastlemax bulk carrier design.
