Goldenport swaps containership order for bulk carrier
The London-listed shipowner Goldenport has reached an agreement with Jiangsu Yangzijiang Shipbuilding to convert one of its two 2,500 TEU containership orders at the Chinese shipyard to a 93,000 dwt bulk carrier.
The ship was part of an order placed by the owner in 2007 for delivery in 2010/2011. The deliveries of both ships are now scheduled for 2011. Goldenport said that the conversion was “agreed at no additional cost to the company and the already secured bank financing remains in place for both vessels on order to the yard.”
