‘MOL Comfort’ investigation taking longer than expected
ClassNK executive vice president Toshitomo Matsui has announced that the Tokyo-based classification society’s casualty analysis and investigation into the ‘MOL Comfort’ sinking will take longer than initially expected.
The ClassNK Casualty Investigation Team began its work in mid-June, expecting to complete its analysis by early September 2013. However, ClassNK says that the time-consuming nature of some of the analysis work has forced the team to revise its forecast for completion. The findings are not now expected to be released until late October.
No other reason for the delay, or additional insight into the cause of the casualty, is available at present.
