Accelleron reports strong ACCX300-L adoption

Accelleron has secured projects involving more than 100 ACCX300-L low-speed turbochargers during the first four months since the platform’s commercial launch in April 2026, signalling early adoption across the global maritime sector.

The projects involve shipowners, engine builders and shipyards, with major two-stroke engine designers now including the ACCX300-L in their engine configurators. Engine builders and shipyards in China and South Korea have also selected the turbocharger for new projects.

“The speed and breadth of adoption stand out,” said Christoph Rofka, president of Accelleron’s Medium and Low Speed Division. “Customers are looking beyond initial performance to how equipment will be maintained and kept efficient over decades of operation.”

The ACCX300-L has been designed around lifecycle considerations, combining increased power density with a service-friendly cartridge concept, integrated data capability and a simplified platform architecture. The latter reduces the number of frame sizes from five to two.

Its cartridge concept allows operators to exchange the complete rotating sub-assembly during a port stay, rather than linking major service work to drydock schedules. Accelleron says this can give operators greater flexibility over maintenance timing, costs and vessel availability while supporting full component lifetimes.

Turbo Insights is included as standard, making each ACCX300-L installation data-enabled from delivery. The system can also be integrated with Accelleron’s Turbo MarineCare service agreements, supporting condition-based maintenance decisions and more predictable maintenance planning.

The platform is available in single and twin arrangements to accommodate different engine and vessel requirements. In twin configurations, an automatic cut-in and cut-out function keeps the active turbocharger closer to its optimal efficiency range at lower engine loads.

According to Accelleron, this can help reduce specific fuel oil consumption during slow steaming, when engines operate at reduced loads.

The ACCX300-L completed its qualification programme before its commercial launch in April 2026. First deliveries from the current order book are scheduled for March 2027.
