National Chemical Carriers of Saudi Arabia has taken delivery of the first of two chemical carriers ordered from SLS Shipbuilding of Korea.

The 45,000 dwt DNV-classed NCC Noor has a cargo capacity of 53,200m3, comprising 22 zinc/epoxy coated cargo tanks. The ship is owned jointly by NCC and Odfjell of Norway, and will be operated by Dubai-based NCC Odfjell Chemical Tankers.

The second ship is expected to be delivered in April 2011. NCC says it has nine more ships under construction at SLS for 2011/2012 delivery, and a 75,000 dwt tanker in build at DSME in Korea.
