Wind-powered cargo ship sets sail with BIO-UV BWTS

An innovative wind-powered cargo ship has set sail across the Atlantic with a state-of-the-art ballast water treatment system by BIO-UV Group

Built by Piriou Group, the 52m Grain de Sail II will include the BIO-SEA L unit with Filtrex filter system as it transports goods from France to New York before heading south to the Caribbean and loading up with locally-grown organic cocoa and coffee beans.

The system on board the Grain de Sail II is designed to treat ballast water flow rates of 30m³/h.
