Maersk and CMA CGM to work together on alt fuels
Two of the largest names in the container liner sector, A.P. Moller - Maersk A/S (Maersk) and CMA CGM, have announced plans to join forces on several areas relating to decarbonisation. The collaboration, which will be “in full compliance with all laws and regulations”, will focus on the development of the use of alternative greener fuels for container vessel propulsion.
The collaboration will centre on the development of high standards for alternative fuels, including their full lifecycle analysis (LCA) including related greenhouse gasses, and will help to setting the framework of mass production of green methane and green methanol. Both CMA CGM and Maersk have invested directly in the production of alternative fuels, The Motorship notes.
