    China In New Challenge To European Yards

    China’s shipbuilding industry has reached a new milestone through the production of its first large-scale cruise vessel, the 135,500gt Adora Magic City. An extended trials campaign was implemented by builder Shanghai Waigaoqiao during July with the ship entering its final outfitting phase in anticipation of commissioning into service at the start of 2024.

    Chengxi wins 84,000dwt multipurpose vessel series

    Japan’s Kumiai Senpaku has awarded China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) a contract for 10 x 84,500dwt multipurpose vessels, as well as a 17,000 dwt asphalt carrier. The orders will be built at Chengxi Shipbuilding, although no details about delivery dates were announced.

    WinGD Confirms First Chinese Orders for 92 bore Methanol Dual-Fuel Engine

    WinGD (Winterthur Gas & Diesel) has confirmed the receipt of a landmark order to supply a 92-bore low-speed, dual-fuel engine to run on methanol for a series of newbuildings for COSCO Shipping Lines.

    Italian classification society RINA has awarded an approval in principle (AiP) for an ammonia fuel supply system to CSSC Power. The award follows closely after RINA awarded an AiP to Zhangjiagang Furui Heavy Equipment Co. (FHRE) for an ammonia containment system for fuel applications.
