Somas Instrument AB, a producer of control and on/off valves, has announced a new global partnership with Swiss-listed turbocharger manufacturer Accelleron.
The deal will see Accelleron serve as the authorised global service provider for Somas valves, primarily used in exhaust aftertreatment systems such as selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR).
Under the agreement, Accelleron’s service engineers will be trained to service Somas valves, providing 24/7 support through a network of over 100 locations worldwide. This collaboration aims to ensure that Somas valves continue to meet stringent environmental and fuel efficiency standards in marine engines.

Somas, known for its expertise in butterfly valves, entered the marine engine market in 2017 and sees this partnership as a way to enhance aftercare for its marine customers. Accelleron, expanding beyond its turbocharging roots, views the partnership as an opportunity to broaden its service offerings, including digital insights and additional components of the marine engine exhaust system.
Leaders from both companies expressed optimism about the collaboration. Peter Hägg (pictured), CEO of Somas, emphasised Accelleron’s global reach and service experience, while Roland Schwarz, president of Accelleron’s Service Division, highlighted the importance of minimising maintenance downtime for shipping companies.
This partnership promises to streamline maintenance for marine customers, combining valve and turbocharger services under one roof.
