Carbon capture retrofitted aboard vessels can deliver a practical route to decarbonisation, Carbon Ridge’s Anastasija Kuprijanova will tell the Propulsion & Future Fuels Conference.

As Director of Business Development, Kuprijanova leads commercial strategy to bring carbon capture technology to market across the global shipping industry, working directly with shipowners, operators and partners to move decarbonization solutions from concept to their vessels.

She will contribute to the Retrofit: Turning Existing Fleets into Future-Ready Assets session in Hamburg this December, which will explore how operators can upgrade existing vessels to improve efficiency, enable fuel flexibility, extend asset life, and meet evolving regulatory requirements.

Santa Monica-based Carbon Ridge delivered an industry first last year when it deployed the first centrifugal-based onboard carbon capture system on a shipping vessel. Its Onboard Carbon Capture & Storage (OCCS) system removes nitrous oxide, sulphur and carbon dioxide from flue gas and then compresses and stores it on the vessel.

Kuprijanova has a proven track record across emerging clean technologies and complex maritime operations with experience spanning ammonia-to-power development at Amogy, and the launch of NYC Ferry with Hornblower Group.

She has been recognized as a Women in Hydrogen 50 Honoree by Hydrogen Economist, and among Marine Log’s Top Women in Maritime (2024). She holds a degree in Maritime Affairs from the California Maritime Academy.
