STX wins order for tanker pair

The South Korean shipbuilder STX Offshore & Shipbuilding has received an order from the Italian shipowner L.G.R. di Navigazione SpA for two 50,800 dwt product/chemical tankers.

The newbuildings will measure 183m in length, 32.2m in width, a 19.1m depth and a service speed of 15.2 knots. The two vessels, to be constructed at STX’s Jinhae shipyard at a cost of $70 million, are scheduled for delivery by 2012.

So far this year, STX has received orders to build four 57,300 dwt bulk carriers from Turkish ship owners (including two options), two 81,000 dwt bulk carriers from a European ship owner (including one option).
