Ammonia propulsion reaches commercial milestone

WinGD has completed world-first approval and acceptance testing of its two-stroke X52DF-A-1.0 ammonia engine, advancing vessel power solutions supporting alternative fuels and maritime decarbonisation.

The testing programmes, witnessed by Lloyd’s Register and major classification societies under EXMAR supervision, mark a significant step towards deploying ammonia-based vessel power in commercial shipping.
