Strain On Damen’s Romanian Links
Dutch group Damen has been compelled to give up management and operational control of the Mangalia shipyard, Romania’s largest shipbuilder and the biggest in Damen’s international network. The move has been precipitated by a change in Romanian legislation, but does not affect the organisation’s other, longer-established presence in the country by way of Damen Shipyards Galati.

MAN ES participating in 4-stroke methanol retrofit research project
MAN Energy Solutions has launched a project to develop retrofit solutions for medium-speed marine engines. The ‘CliNeR-ECo’ project includes partners from industry and research institutes, and will run until the end of 2025. Research association comprising MAN Energy Solutions, WTZ Roßlau gGmbH and TU Darmstadt start ‘CliNeR-ECo’ project.

Hapag-Lloyd and Seaspan ink 15+45 MeOH retrofit deal
Seaspan Corporation (Seaspan), the containership owner and manager, in collaboration with Hapag-Lloyd, have signed a Conversion Commitment Agreement with MAN PrimeServ. The deal covers the retrofit of the main engines aboard 15 container vessels equipped with MAN B&W S90-type main engines to dual-fuel MAN B&W ME-LGIM types capable of operation on green methanol. The Agreement includes 45 optional engine retrofit solutions.
