With the looming introduction of EEXI and CII rules from 2023 as well as Scope 3 emissions reporting, shipowners are taking a close interest in the economics of engine conversions.

The BW Gemini, a VLGC from the BW LPG fleet, had its MAN B&W 6G60ME-C9.2 main engine retrofitted to an MAN B&W 6G60ME-C9.5-LGIP dual-fuel type, capable of operating on fuel oil and LPG.
