Aker BP SOFC retrofit deal latest in series of Aker ammonia initiatives

When Eidesvik Offshore ASA announced on 9 November that it was signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Aker BP to examine the possibility of retrofitting ammonia-fuelled solid-oxide fuel cells (SOFC) on two offshore support vessels (OSV), it represented the latest step in a series of ammonia-related initiatives by companies connected with Norway’s Aker family of companies.

Eidesvik and Aker BP agreed to collaborate in the retrofit of ammonia-fuelled SOFC technology on board two offshore vessels on 9 November.
