SOLAS updates now set for 2024 introduction

DNV advises that there are a set of amendments to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) and associated Codes that enter into force on 1 January 2024.

The SOLAS Chapter III amendment clarifies that launch appliances of rescue boats weighing less than 700 kg do not need to have stored mechanical power.
