Maersk to resume ordering newbuildings

Following a two-year break, Maersk has commenced negotiations with Chinese and Korean shipyards for ten 16,000 TEU boxships, according to Asiasis Daily News.

Maersk’s return to the market follows substantial boxship newbuild orders from Evergreen, Neptune Orient Lines and, in early August, Seaspan. It would appear that Maersk is preparing to regain its lead among global boxship fleets.
