Venezuela orders Aframax tankers from Russia
Venezuelas state shipping company Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) has signed a deal to buy 10 Aframax oil tankers worth $700 million from Russias United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) for delivery by 2016.
Three tankers will be built at the Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard in South Korea, three will be built in Russia with the help of Daewoo engineers and four in Russia without assistance according to a company spokesman.
The USC-Daewoo joint venture Zvezda DSME will erect a special shipyard to build the tankers between 2012 and 2015 in Russia’s Primorsky Krai territory, which borders China.
