The Propulsion & Future Fuels 2026 Conference programme will this year explore the latest developments across alternative fuels and propulsion systems, covering methanol, ammonia, hydrogen, fuel cells, LNG and drop-in fuels.
Under the title ’Powering shipping’s next phase of decarbonisation’, a range of sessions will examine bunkering and infrastructure challenges, propulsion integration and wind-assisted technologies. The evolving role of safety, efficiency, and regulation, including the emerging perspectives on nuclear propulsion for commercial shipping, will also be under the spotlight.
Global maritime leaders will gather for the longest-running technical conference in the shipping sector in Hamburg on 8 December for two days of expert insight and discussion focused on the technologies and strategies shaping the future of sustainable shipping.
Conference chairman, Lars Robert Pedersen, deputy secretary general of BIMCO, will welcome attendees and then deliver a keynote address called ’IMO Development Update & Mid Term Measures’, before joining a panel discussion on the regulatory changes.
This will be moderated by Markus Munz, managing director of VDMA Large Engines, and will include Wolfram Gunterman, director of regulatory affairs at Hapag-Lloyd AG, alongside other speakers who will be announced in due course.
