Heatmaster, the Dutch specialist in engine room and cargo heating systems, has been supplying heat recovery systems and electrical heaters across the shipping sector for many years.
More recently the electrification of maritime transport has seen exponential growth.

Electrical heaters can be used when the vessels are “cold ironing” or when they are for example battery powered. Big Wind Turbine Installation Vessels ( WTIV ) and service vessels are good examples. The WTIV for Penta Ocean is currently under construction at Seatrium in Singapore, using Heatmaster hot water system with 2,8MW of heat recovery and 2,8MW electrical heating.
Introducing our cutting-edge Gas Combustion Unit (GCU), engineered to handle any gas composition.
- Ultra-Wide Fuel Range:
Burns every mixture between 100% N2 up to 100% CH4. - High Capacity:
Delivers up to 1 ,000kg/h of BOG - ideal for LNG Bunkering vessels. - Low Exhaust Output Temperature:
Advanced heat recovery and combustion technology minimize exhaust temperatures, compliant with the VR X notations of class.
Our Gas Combustion Unit is not just powerful-it’s smart, adaptable, and built for the future.
In addition, Heatmaster is still playing a crucial role in the LNG bunkering sector by supplying their Gas Combustion Unit (GCU) solution to LNG bunkering vessels. The GCU is essential for maintaining the proper pressure in LNG cargo tanks, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
The United LNG 1 is the most recent inland LNG Bunkering vessel using the Heatmaster GCU solution.
Heatmaster’s GCU technology is another example of its commitment to providing solutions that improve safety, efficiency and sustainability in the maritime industry.
“We see continued growth in the LNG Bunkering market, by far exceeding the other alternative fuels. The Heatmaster GCU has been the preferred choice of leading bunkering operators for years,” said Pieter Borg, CCO of Heatmaster BV.
For Heatmaster though, the innovation doesn’t stop at basic heating systems.
Heatmaster’s advanced heat recovery and system design solutions, expertly integrate ORC technology and innovative exhaust gas heat recovery methods.
- We design the total heat balance of the ship integrating the ORC
- Improves the fuel efficiency of the vessel
- Proven design with first class European products for key items
Leveraging both your data and our expert guidance enables us to rapidly evaluate possible improvements.
One of Heatmaster’s standout technologies is its Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) heat recovery system.
ORC captures waste heat from the vessel and converts it into usable power, enhancing energy efficiency and reducing fuel consumption. This not only helps shipowners save on operating costs but also significantly lowers their environmental impact by reducing CO2 emissions.

In September, Heatmaster will present its products during SMM 2026 in Hamburg on booth A1:514.
