Auramarine unveils “world first” methanol supply system for cruise sector

Finnish fuel supply system provider Auramarine announced an order from compatriot shipyard Meyer Turku for its methanol system during Posidonia, to be used on TUI Cruises-owned Mein Schiff 7 cruise vessel.

Cruise ships are often caught by CII due to their low speed and extended time in port so is a difficult sector to decarbonise. The Mein Schiff 7 will spend about 40% of its time in port for instance.

As part of the deal with TUI Cruises, Auramarine will supply the methanol bunker and transfer systems and a gas detection and methanol bilge system are also included.
