Japanese consortium targets CCS demonstration shipments in 2024

A New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) led consortium plans to begin small-scale demonstration shipments of liquefied CO2 as part of a demonstration of international liquefied CO2 supply chains in 2024.

Construction of the demonstration test ship for LCO2 transportation began in October 2022 at Shimonoseki Shipyard.
